The Orthodox Churches

Every year one there is a special opportunity to witness the diversity of the Orthodox Churches and communities in Switzerland on a date near 11 September, the feast day of the city’s patron saints Felix und Regula. Organised by the Council of Christian Churches (AGCK) in the canton of Zurich, members of the Orthodox Churches in Switzerland participate in a procession from the Fraumünster over the (River) Limmat to the place that commemorates the saints, the Wasserkirche church, passing by the Grossmünster en route, where they all celebrate an Orthodox Vespers together. Each Church appears in full regalia. It is not just a very colourful feast for the eyes: it is also Christian ecumenism being practised in the name of Jesus Christ.
